The film follows Dave, a recently laid off aerospace engineer who is struggling to connect with his family. When a UFO is spotted in the skies above New York City, Dave is recruited by NASA to communicate with the aliens. As he boards the spaceship, he discovers that the aliens are on a mission to destroy Earth. With his suburban knowledge and resourcefulness, Dave devises a plan to save humanity.
