Set roughly 400 years after the collapse of modern civilization, players take on the role of a seasoned antiquity scavenger known as a "Desert Stalker". The setting is a harsh, sun-drenched wasteland where deadly supernatural storms and rogue raider gangs are constant threats. Unlike many games in the genre, Desert Stalker places a heavy emphasis on a "family man" dynamic; the protagonist scours ruins for rare artifacts to provide for a household of loved ones, including "step" family members.
