In recent years, there has been a growing concern about the decline of Sinhala language in Sri Lanka. Many Sri Lankans, particularly in urban areas, have started to prioritize English over Sinhala, which has led to a decrease in the use of Sinhala in daily life. This trend is particularly evident among the younger generation, who prefer to use English in their education, media, and social interactions. As a result, many Sri Lankans are losing touch with their cultural heritage and linguistic roots.
This study was conducted through a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods.
