The "ROM" component is the heart of the suite. Unlike the bloat of the "Nero StartSmart" launcher, Burning ROM is a standalone executable ( nero.exe ) that interfaces directly with the ASPI (Advanced SCSI Programming Interface) layer.
By early 2009, Nero 9 had been on the market for several months. The 8.3.6.0 update was primarily a for users who preferred the Nero 8 interface or held licenses that didn't include a free upgrade to version 9. Nero-8.3.6.0
