welcome aboard

Ships of Hagoth is a digital-first literary magazine featuring creative nonfiction and theoretical essays by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Where other LDS-centric publications often look inward at the LDS tradition, we seek literary works that look outward through the curious, charitable lens of faith.

As the float lurched forward, a towering golden phoenix rising from the sea of people, Vivi began to move. Her samba was liquid fire, a blur of precision and grace that commanded every lens in the stadium. The crowd roared, a wall of sound that pushed her higher. In that moment, she wasn't just a performer; she was the living embodiment of the Brazilian spirit—resilient, radiant, and utterly free.

Today, the era of "Brasileirinhas" in the 2000s is often viewed with a sense of nostalgia for a specific moment in Brazilian pop culture. It represents a time when the local industry was at its commercial peak, producing content that was undeniably Brazilian in flavor and successful in marketing. The brand's ability to integrate Carnival culture and create bona fide celebrities out of its stars remains a fascinating case study in media and entertainment history.

This production, specifically from 2006, encapsulates the energy, music, and dance that define Carnaval. Vivi Fernandes, as a featured performer or personality, adds to the allure, given her popularity and contributions to Brazilian entertainment. The ".27 REPACK" suggests a specific edition or version of the content, possibly indicating a repackaged or updated release that may include additional features or improvements over the original.

: Vivi Fernandes was one of the most recognizable stars in Brazil during the mid-2000s, crossing over from adult films to mainstream fame as a television personality and model.

IONS

We are hoping—for “one must needs hope”—for creative nonfiction, theoretical essays, and craft essays that seek radical new ways to explore and express theological ideas; that are, like Hagoth, “exceedingly curious.”

We favor creative nonfiction that can trace its lineage back to Michel de Montaigne. Whether narrative, analytical, or devotional, these essays lean ruminative, conversational, meandering, impressionistic, and are reluctant to wax didactic.

As for theoretical essays: we welcome work that playfully and charitably explores the wide world of arts & letters—especially works created from differing religious, non-religious, and even irreligious perspectives—through the peculiar lens of a Latter-day Saint.

We read and publish submissions as quickly as possible, and accept simultaneous submissions.
