The story is split into two halves. In the first, Professor Harold Monroe ventures into the "Green Inferno" to locate a film crew that disappeared while filming indigenous tribes. In the second half, Monroe returns to New York and reviews the recovered reels, which reveal the crew's descent into depravity as they provoked the local tribes for "better" footage.
